Star Trek Mission Crate 3 Unboxing / Review “Dark Frontier”

Here it is, the next chapter in the long arduous epic that is waiting for my 6 Star Trek Mission Crates to show up. I’ve spoken on the past few crate reviews about the situation – Loot Crate is having issues, and appears to be slightly unable to handle the sheer amount of crates they are currently selling. I should be holding 7 or so bi-monthly crates, but have only received three at this time – each one seemingly taking longer and longer to arrive.

November turned into January 1st

A few weeks prior to receiving this, I learned that Loot Crate had shipped a big box of random stuff to people who had subscribed to a similar Firefly themed Crate – a fact that made me assume I was about to have a ton of useless stuff I did not want. I was prepared to call and demand a refund of the further items, but alas I did not have to as a pretty solid crate arrived. Was it worth the wait – probably not, but it looks like Loot Crate really tried to keep people happy.

The theme of this box was “Dark Frontier”, which was an episode of Star Trek Voyager.

“Members of the Voyager crew train on the holodeck for a raid on a Borg ship. Should they be successful, they will steal the Borg trans-warp coil in hopes of integrating the technology into Voyager’s systems. The Borg seem to be one step ahead when the Borg Queen communicates with Seven of Nine.”

Obligatory Star Trek Online Items

I wish this wasn’t just PC exclusive, as a PS4 player, these make me sad.

Captain Proton T shirt

Pretty fun Item, that I plan to rock at Comicon this year – for those unaware how this relates to Star Trek, check this out:

“Captain Proton was the protagonist of the holographic novel The Adventures of Captain Proton, a story created by USS Voyager crewmember Tom Paris. In the story, Proton’s sidekick is called Buster Kincaid, played by Harry Kim on a number of occasions, and his secretary is named Constance Goodheart. He fought against the “evil forces” of Doctor Chaotica and Queen Arachnia.”

Memory Alpha, a Star Trek Wiki

Voyager Badge

I have slowly been decorating one of my bathrooms with Trek items, and these badges have been a big hit.

Seven of Nine Master Series Figure

I love these figures so much, this looks cool next to Commander Worf

Seven of Nine Beach Towel

Awesome addition to my Trek Bathroom as well, it’s a tad thin, but it does the job.

The Verdict: As I stated above, this was not worth the wait, but what I did get was pretty awesome! LOVE the shirt, figure and the towel and the badges are always solid. Of the three boxes I reviewed these past few days, this is easily the best. I just hope I don’t have to wait for July to review the next one.

Deadpool Club Merc January 2019 Unboxing / Review – “Family”

Continuing my day of being snowed-in, here is my second of third January loot box reviews.

Spoiler Card / Art Print

While the Deadpool Corps comic ended some time ago, it seems Lootcrate is firmly behind this particular version of the Deadpool character. Not a bad thing, just interesting.

Family Portrait Shirt

Napkin Ring Set

While this is an interesting item, I have almost no use for such a thing, rarely do I use cloth napkins outside of a restaurant, and if I do, I can’t imagine using napkin rings.

Stick Family Car Decal

Fun idea, but my experience with these things has not been good in the past, doubt I will ever use them.

Deadpool Corps Scarf

Now, this is more like it! I can and have been using this item to keep warm these past few weeks.

Deadpool Corps Ship Pin

I did not actually receive this item in my box, and had to request a replacement via their customer service team – This is a promo image I found online.

The Verdict: This box was a bit weak on the useful side of things – I will definitely use the scarf and shirt, but the other stuff, while being cool, is likely going to end up in this big “swag box” that I have for items such as this. Hats off to Loot Crate for trying some item variety, but C’mon guys. The scarf is easily the best item in this box, and possibly one of the better Loot Crate items I’ve ever received. I assume it’s inclusion is likely why there are so few other items.

WWE Slam Crate January 2019 Unboxing / Review – “High-Flyers”

As I sit here, basically snowed-in after the sky dumped well over a foot of snow on my neighborhood with not a plow in sight, I figured I better post some reviews of the three Loot Crate boxes that I’ve received this month. For this review, we will be sitting down and cracking open a fresh WWE Slam Crate by the folks over at Loot Crate. This month’s theme was “High Flyers”.

Spoiler Card / Interview /Poster

The “Hang in there” AJ Styles motivational poster actually made me laugh out loud when I opened it. I wish it wasn’t creased as I would probably frame it for my work-out room, but I may end up tossing it in there anyway, i’s pretty hilarious.

AJ Styles Figure

Another solid entry in this series of exclusive figures, loving how these things are looking on my shelf.

“High Flyers” Rey Mysterio T-Shirt

Simple effective design, WWE shirts from this crate are usually pretty good.

Velveteen Dream Sleep Mask

I actually have to use a sleep mask, so this will likely get used, unlike some other items such as this including money clips or toothpick holders, cool idea.

“Kofi Mug” Coffee Mug

This has a sturdy feel, seems like the quality of mugs you’d find at Walmart and such, have yet to use it or wash it, but I can’t imagine it falling apart anytime soon.

Cruiserweight Championship Pin

I wasn’t too enamored with last week’s D-X pins, so I’m glad to see another one of these pins this time around.

High-Flyers Sticker Set

The Verdict: Pretty solid crate with a decent amount of items, with a better selection than the past few boxes. I think the AJ Styles figure is likely my favorite thing in this box this time around, followed closely by the T-Shirt.
