An Interview with Professional Wrestler Atlas Armstrong
Since I’ve started this little endeavor of covering Kansas City-area wrestling shows, I’ve been able to watch the meteoric rise of some of the “new blood” of local talent, all from newcomers to seasoned vets, and for me that’s better than watching a lot of the big TV brands! One man that has really stepped up is “The Natural” Atlas Armstrong. Not even a year ago, Armstrong was still considered a trainee, but is now gunning for championship belts all over Missouri and Kansas. As his name would imply, Atlas is a natural in professional wrestling and has progressed very quickly in a short amount of time, becoming one of the more impressive high-flyers out there currently.
Every match he has is a guaranteed banger, and I love seeing when his name is on the card. That won’t be hard because, as you will see, Atlas gets around and wrestles EVERYWHERE, and I have a feeling I will see him upwards of three times this month alone! You all are in for yet another treat because Atlas was great to interview, and I definitely appreciate his time. You will learn about the ins and outs of KCXW in 2024, get hyped for Xtreme Freedom 2024, and learn his very own origin story. Be sure to show Atlas some love on all of his socials, including his Facebook HERE, his Instagram HERE, and YouTube HERE.
I generally ask a few of the same questions in these sorts of interviews, so don’t be surprised if you’ve seen me repeat a few before. As I build up a format that I like, I figure this makes it fun to compare how different people answer on a few of these.
Note: This interview was conducted electronically in June of 2024.

Thank you for speaking with me today, would you mind introducing yourself to my readers?
“Hello, I’m “The Natural” Atlas Armstrong. I’ve been wrestling for almost a full year, and you’ll mostly find me in the KC area. I’ve been to places like KCXW, NBW, HCW, and IWA.”
How did you get started in the wrestling business?
“I watched it with my brother when I was 5, so I always had a love for it growing up. At 19, I searched up “pro wrestling schools near me,” and that’s how I found the XWC. The rest is history as they say”

What is your biggest tip for somebody starting out?
“Shia said it best, but just do it. It’s cliche, but you’ll never know if you don’t try: try a new move (safely), talk to a different person at shows, message the promoter you want to get booked for. Honestly, the worst thing they can say is ‘no.'”
What is a big mistake that you have done or seen people do?
“Not shaking people’s hands. Respect is something we heavily teach at the XWC. Respect goes a long way in this business, and if you’re not respecting someone else, why should they respect you?”
You mentioned watching it when you were young, did you stay a big wrestling fan?
“Of course. I remember my brother and I getting yelled at because we’d always be throwing each other around when my parents left the house “
Who are you inspired by?
“Finn Bálor. In a world that was filled with giants, Bálor stood out amongst them. I’m definitely not the biggest guy, and seeing someone else who isn’t big rise above everyone, becoming world champion at every promotion he went to, speaks a lot to me.”
I have seen you in FCP, KCXW, Show Me States, and Tri States Wrestling – is there anywhere you don’t wrestle?! Better yet, where else can fans find you?
“Flattered by the question, and thank you for that. The best way to find my stuff is my YouTube channel; I try to upload all my matches on there. Also, my Instagram and Facebook are other easy ways to follow my journey as well”
“My NBW debut was a championship main event. I was scared out of my mind, but that definitely helped set who I am, who I want to be, and what I want to do moving forward”
What are your goals for the rest of the year? Beyond?
“I have a couple of other promotions I’ve been really wanting to get on, kinda like a bucket list sort of thing. Beyond that, I want to quit my day job lol. I want to make a good, sustainable living off of wrestling. And I want to get that patented “Triple H point” by signing with WWE”
You recently had a pretty serious run-in with the members of The Xtremists, do you know what exactly their problem is? Why were they going after you?
“I think they didn’t like my natural good looks lol. In all seriousness, I think they saw me as “soft,” and, in their eyes, that’s a sin. So they wanted to do whatever they could to take me out.”

Do you think you’re in the clear now?
“Recently, I had a match with David Cattin that I won via DQ because he wouldn’t let go of the cobra clutch so apart of me thinks they still hate me!”
At KCXW Xtreme Freedom you are teaming up with Old Glory to take on Lord Maximus Canine and a mystery partner, what brought you two together?
“First, it was him saving me from Cattin, but we both have respect for one another. Also, Glory and I have styles that mesh very well together.”
Atlas seems to be a frequent target of David Cattin especially.
Do you have any idea who the mystery partner could be?
“No idea. Canine has said nothing about who he wants to team with, but I’d be surprised if anyone would want to team with him! “
How are you both training for such a match?
“Lots of cardio and heavy lifting with tag team practice, of course. Our athleticism is unmatched, but that’ll only go so far if we don’t know how to team with each other.”

Do you prefer wrestling singles or as a tag team so far?
“Nothing against Glory, but singles. I think a have bigger opportunity to shine more”
What is your next big show or a show you want to hype?
“Xtreme Freedom on July 20th!”
What is a match of yours that people absolutely need to see?
“Vs FTG for the NBW Television Championship, in November”
Do you have a dream opponent?
“Shylynn, Camaro Jackson, Bert Candy, Scott Hansen, and Talon”
Any Championships you are gunning for right now?
“Still the NBW Television Championship! “
What is your all-time favorite wrestling match?
“Johnny Gargano vs Andrade “Cien” Almas for the NXT Championship at Philadelphia. Something about that match pushed me to become a pro wrestler”
Definitely a hell of a match!
Do you have any TV shows, Movies, books etc. that you want to hype?
“Shows-Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and The Boys. Movies- Barbie, Inglorious Basterds, Fight Club, and American Psycho”
I ask this question to everyone I talk to – if you could travel back in time to any point in history, when would it be?
“1920’s. It was called “The Roaring 20’s” for a reason so why not check it out “
