PREVIEW: Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling – Xtreme Freedom (7-19-25)

While the Independence Day festivities may have faded in the past few weeks, KCXW is bringing just as many fireworks and explosions to the table this weekend as your one crazy neighbor who must have mortgaged his house to afford all of the pyrotechnics he set off. That’s right, it’s time once again for KCXW Xtreme Liberty, coming to you from the very fittingly named Independence, Missouri at City House. This year’s show marks a turning point for the company, now under the direction of Richard Goldman. While Goldman made his presence known at Unleashed, Xtreme Liberty is his first real test as KCXW’s new head honcho. If he can keep the main event from descending into chaos, and somehow resolve the company’s ongoing issue with the Women’s Championship being held by an unofficial and arguably unjust titleholder, he’ll be one step closer to restoring the order and respectability he’s promised.

….Of course, KCXW’s many agents of chaos might have something to say about that. Join me as I break down all of the announced matches and get ready for Saturday’s show. I hope to see all of my readers there!

If you still have to purchase tickets, you can still get them even this close to the show. While the VIP Table Packages have sold out, there are still other seating choices available. The XTREME Seating Section, offering front-row seats for both kids and adults, is priced at $20.00 plus a $1.50 fee, with only a limited number of seats remaining. General Admission tickets are available at $15.00 plus a $1.50 fee for adults (ages 13 and up) and $10.00 plus a $1.50 fee for children (12 and under). Doors open at 5:30 PM, with the opening bell at 6:30 PM.

PREVIEW: Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling – Xtreme Freedom (7-19-25)

As I mentioned in a previous rundown, the seemingly never-ending battle between El Diablo, Tobias Storm, and Hard Luck Hal Rogers has finally come to a head, with all three men being thrust into a triple threat match at KCXW Xtreme Freedom. This match was the result of a judgment call by the company’s new de facto leader and owner, Richard Goldman, who essentially gave up trying to officiate a number-one contender’s match at the Checkpoint Mayhem taping a few months ago – probably in the hopes that his messy little problem would sort itself out down the line. Neither Hard Luck Hal Rogers nor El Diablo seemed particularly interested in following the rules or respecting authority during that match, and one really has to wonder how out of control this upcoming bout might become.

It also begs the question: what must Tobias Storm be thinking about all of this? He wasn’t even present at the taping where the decision was made, and now his odds of winning have dropped to something around 33 percent. I’m sure someone could pull out a ridiculous Steiner Math promo to explain it better, but the truth is simple – Storm doesn’t even have to be pinned in order to lose the championship he’s worked all year to defend. After going toe-to-toe with competitors like the Iron Pitbull Kenny King and Talon and still emerging victorious, having the title ripped away due to the chaos caused by two other challengers would be nothing short of a travesty.

Still, Tobias Storm has proven to be the type of champion who rises to the challenge. This new adversity will no doubt fuel the same kind of fire that has carried him to the top so far this year. But when you’re staring down the barrel of a pipe wrench held by Hard Luck Hal Rogers and bracing for the death-defying aerial assault of El Diablo, even someone as tough as Storm has to be feeling the pressure. The KCXW main event scene has been a wild ride in 2025, and it’s only heating up. If this match can settle the score once and for all, we might finally have a clear champion heading into the fall season – assuming these three don’t cause even more trouble and end up back on Goldman’s bad side before then.

At Checkpoint: Mayhem, a good portion of the Season of Xcellence Tournament spots were decided, including a notable advancement by the returning Bert Candy, who managed to take down the notorious Dr. Isin and secure his place in the semifinals. Since that victory, Candy has put the KCXW locker room on notice, making it clear that his goal is to walk out of this tournament as the Season of Xcellence Champion.

Standing in his way now is none other than the monstrous Iron Pitbull, Kenny Kingston. Kingston’s first attempt at securing a spot in the tournament didn’t go as planned – he came up short in a battle royal at Checkpoint: Mayhem that awarded a guaranteed spot in the finals to the winner. That honor ultimately went to the Polish powerhouse Gerard Jaworski. However, Kingston fought his way into the semifinals the hard way, defeating Rad Rico Estevez in a brutal quarterfinal match. That loss in the battle royal clearly left a bad taste in his mouth, and you better believe the Iron Pitbull is coming into this next round ramped up, rabid, and off the chain.

The Season of Xcellence tournament title is more than just a trophy – it’s traditionally a major stepping stone toward the KCXW Kansas City Championship. Kenny Kingston knows this and is looking to lock in his legacy with a statement win. On the other side, Bert Candy is out to prove that his return isn’t just a feel-good moment, but the beginning of a dominant run.

With both men being among the largest competitors in KCXW, this match has the potential to shake not only the foundation of the main event scene but the literal floors of City House in Independence, Missouri. Will Bert Candy stay on track and take out the big dog, or will Kenny Kingston bite down hard on this opportunity and refuse to let go?

The United Patriots, once the pride of KCXW’s tag team division, have fallen into disarray in recent months, unraveling in front of the fans who once rallied behind them. What was once a well-oiled, battle-tested duo has devolved into a partnership plagued by miscommunication, mistrust, and mounting frustration. The fracture began at Unleashed, when Armstrong walked out on his longtime partner Old Glory mid-match, an act that shocked the crowd and cast doubt on the team’s future. That tension only deepened at Checkpoint Mayhem, where Atlas flatly told Old Glory to stay backstage, claiming he didn’t need the help. Glory complied, shoulders slumped, but his loyalty brought him back to ringside. That loyalty ultimately backfired – his attempt to stop Vice from using a chair led to a referee misunderstanding, giving Vice the chance to use a hidden weapon and steal yet another tainted win. It was just the latest in a string of moments that have pushed the United Patriots further from the elite status they once held.

Now, The Xtremists are circling. With chaos festering between Armstrong and Old Glory, the Xtremists see this potential matchup as an opportunity to strike while the iron is fractured. Like vultures eyeing the staggering steps of a wounded animal, The Xtremists aim to tear apart the remnants of a once-great team and assert themselves as the face of tag team wrestling in KCXW. They’ve made no secret of their goal: destroy everything and everyone in their path, especially the so-called symbols of honor and tradition like the Patriots. Whether the United Patriots can mend their shattered trust and find the spark that once made them unstoppable – or whether they’ll crumble completely under the Xtremists’ relentless assault – is a question that could shape the future of KCXW’s tag division.

Lady Pride has done little but enrage KCXW fans ever since she stole the Women’s Championship nearly a year ago, and her antics at Checkpoint Mayhem were no different. Rather than defend the title like a true champion, she took to the mic to gloat about her continued stranglehold on the division and bizarrely blamed her walkout DQ against Shylynn on a “mysterious fan” in the crowd – someone she claimed was eyeing the title in a “menacing manner.” Everyone in attendance saw through the excuse, knowing full well Lady Pride was just avoiding another fair title defense. The championship continues to exist in a nebulous state, held hostage by a champion more interested in chaos than legitimacy.

But her next challenger, KCXW newcomer Merci, may finally be the force that changes everything. Merci made a statement at Checkpoint Mayhem by taking on the other members of The Xtremists and walking away with a shocking win, capped off by a gymnastic spin on the stunner that brought the crowd to its feet. Riding the momentum of that victory, Merci now sets her sights on Lady Pride – not only to complete the trifecta by embarrassing all three members of The Xtremists, but to potentially become one of the fastest rising champions in KCXW history. Of course, she’ll need to keep her head on a swivel. If Lady Pride is going to survive with the belt, she’ll almost certainly rely on backup. The question is whether Merci can overcome the numbers game and bring the KCXW Women’s Championship back to someone who’s actually willing to defend it.

One would think that after a year off, Lord Maximus Canine – fresh off what I can only assume was a leisurely sabbatical at his grand English estate – might return to the ring with a bit more humility, maybe even some gratitude. But, unsurprisingly, His Lordship remains as pompous, petty, and insufferable as ever. A former KCXW Kansas City Champion in another life, Canine appears to have leveraged some combination of old accolades, exchanged coin, and behind-the-scenes politicking to walk right into a title shot for “Big Brudda” Clay Huna’s Metro Championship. And you better believe Canine sees this belt as the perfect addition to his already “wondrous” collection of fox-hunting trophies, dusty antiques, or whatever else rich people do over in the U.K. that somehow isn’t illegal yet.

Naturally, the fans will be firmly in Huna’s corner, not just to protect the integrity of his reign, but also in hopes of sending Canine packing once again –ideally with another royal tantrum in tow. The big question: Will Canine bring his manservants this time around?
In his last outing, he famously paid off Dr. Isin to dress like something out of a Renaissance Fair and carry his bags – a partnership that ended poorly when Canine blamed Isin for his loss and attacked him afterward. Not exactly a thriving business relationship.

So what happens this time? Will Huna humble the so-called aristocrat? Will Canine pull more schemes from his velvet sleeves? One thing’s for certain: this match is going to be ridiculous in all the best ways.

Last, but definitely not least, is the very match I have the honor of sponsoring: a massive gauntlet match featuring none other than “The Polish Powerhouse” Gerard Jaworski taking on a trio of up-and-coming KCXW talentsEl Toro, Sykawtic, and Harrison Cruz. Each of these competitors presents a unique threat, but Jaworski seems determined to raise the stakes even higher, using this as his latest feat of strength in what has become an ongoing exhibition of Polish dominance.

For those who might’ve missed it, it wasn’t that long ago that Jaworski collapsed before a scheduled match, leading to a mysterious months-long absence. But since returning late last year, he’s been a man possessed – doing feats of strength like bending steel bars, winning matches in literal seconds, and dominating in battle royales. He’s gone from question mark to cornerstone, establishing himself as a dominant force with the potential to carry the company on his back. This gauntlet won’t be easy – but if Jaworski’s past few months are anything to go by, we may just be witnessing the continued rise of a legend.

More to look forward to at the show:
