PREVIEW: Fountain City Pro – Over You (5-23-25)

Fountain City Pro is set to kick off Memorial Day weekend in a big way with their second show of the year Fountain City Over You, following the record-breaking success of their anniversary event, Light It Up 2. While this card won’t feature a title defense from FCP Heavyweight Champion “The Grand Regent” Camaro Jackson, the promotion has more than made up for it with a stacked lineup that truly offers something for everyone. From high-stakes grudge matches to breakout performances from new faces, this event is poised to be a can’t-miss night for local wrestling fans. And with a new contender for the Fountain City Pro Heavyweight Championship set to be determined with the newly announced Fountain City Reserve match, the road ahead looks just as exciting as what’s in store Friday night. Join me as I break down every match announced for Fountain City Over You – that way we can all head into a jam-packed wrestling weekend with our hype meters fully charged!

As is the case with most local shows, doors open at 6 PM, and the action kicks off at 7 PM. However, there was a mention of a possible preshow, so arriving early wouldn’t be a bad idea. In total, there are nine matches scheduled for the night.

In my humble opinion, one of the standout matches at Fountain City Pro: Light It Up 2 was “The Monarch” Jeremy Wyatt vs. “Handsome” Scott Hansen. Most fans have watched Scott Hansen’s rapid ascent across the state, and to see him go toe-to-toe with one of Kansas City’s all-time greats, and come within a whisker of pulling off a career-defining victory, was both impressive and a little heartbreaking. The moment Wyatt extended his hand in a rare show of respect was downright shocking, and that gesture appears to have earned Hansen a second chance at Fountain City: Over You. Will Hansen seize the opportunity and finally solidify his place in the FCP hierarchy after being little more than an afterthought in his debut? Or will Jeremy Wyatt continue to rule, maintaining his throne as the undisputed King of Kansas City wrestling?

Austin Reddick officially aligned himself with The Main Attraction at Fountain City Pro: Light It Up 2 and fought valiantly in a chaotic trios match that quickly spiraled into a five-on-three handicap situation. Facing off against Chance Carigan, Noah Clover, Quest Parker, Dickie Richards, and the supposedly injured Rey Leon, who miraculously recovered just in time to jump into the ring and crack Reddick in the back with a crutch. Reddick was left outnumbered and ultimately cost the match.

Now, he’s back and looking for payback. This time, he’s not coming alone. Reddick is bringing backup in the form of longtime ally, and tag partner in ACFC, T2G Tommy 2 Good, along with the wild card addition of “The Messiah of Big Guns and Bad Puns” Heidi Howitzer. With a crew like this, Reddick’s team might just have the firepower and unpredictability to neutralize the underhanded tactics of The Standard. But one thing’s for certain, they’ll need to keep their heads on a swivel, because Dickie Richards and company are guaranteed to pull every dirty trick in the book.

Fountain City Pro: Light It Up 2 marked the debut of Leon King, and he made a lasting impression in the big invitational scramble match. Not only did King dominate large stretches of the action, but he also went toe-to-toe with the eventual winner, “All Steel” J. Fowler – proving he has the guts to hang with some of the company’s biggest and toughest stars. That brings us to Fountain City: Over You, where King is set to face none other than “Death Wish” Anakin Murphy – arguably one of the area’s most fearless daredevils and unlikely hardcore badasses.

Murphy has fought tooth and nail to rise through the ranks, earning respect not through flash but by trading blood, pain, and scars. He’s long been dismissed because of his size, appearance, and grim demeanor, but he’s carved out his spot through sheer will. In a recent social media post, King noted that’s where the two differ: they both come from hard upbringings, but while Murphy embraces his own inner pain, King chooses to channel his past into positivity and purpose. Whose worldview will win out in the ring? We’ll find out this Friday.

If I’m not mistaken, the main event of the evening will be the Fountain City Reserve: One Way Ticket Match, which guarantees the winner a contract for a future shot at the Fountain City Pro Heavyweight Championship. This high-stakes scramble will feature Gary Jay, The War Horse Jake Parnell, All Steel J. Fowler, Erik Surge, and Zay-K47. With a mix of beloved veterans and rising talent, this match is bound to be unpredictable.

One competitor to keep a close eye on is All Steel J. Fowler, who came up short in the inaugural title match back at Fountain City Pro: Wayward Son against Camaro jackson. Since then, Fowler has made it crystal clear that he’s been grinding harder than ever to earn another shot at the gold he believes should’ve been his. His win in the last show’s scramble match was step one, now the rest of the field better stay sharp, because Fowler is locked in and coming for what he feels he deserves.

Speaking of multi-wrestler matches, let’s not forget the big women’s four-way dance featuring Ashlyn Alexander, Shooter Shylynn, Nixi XS, and Izzy B. Each of these competitors has already made a strong impression on the Fountain City Pro faithful, and now the spotlight is on them to see who can rise to the top of the division. This match is a true clash of styles, making it tough to name a clear favorite, but if I had to pick, I’d be lying if I didn’t say Shooter Shylynn. Since returning from injury just a few months ago, Shylynn has been hunting for that defining victory to launch her comeback. A win here could be the momentum shift she needs to reclaim her spot as one of the top names in women’s wrestling in the region.

Ever since The Premier weaseled their way into Fountain City Pro, they’ve been running their mouths about how “soft” the FCP tag division is – setting their sights on what looks like a hostile takeover, if not total destruction of said division. But all that noise has done is call out some serious heavy-hitters to shut them up: Luke Langley and Moonshine Mantell, accompanied by Greg Jovi. While I’ve seen both Langley and Mantell dominate individually across Central States Wrestling, I’ve never seen them operate as a unit—and that’s where things get interesting. This alliance could either become an unstoppable menace that Fountain City Pro simply can’t contain… or it could combust under the weight of two very big personalities. Personally, I’d love nothing more than to see SK Bishop and Campbell Myers leave with their tails between their legs – maybe even a little humbled. But in a fight this combustible, anything can happen.

Two more matches were announced earlier this week, The Main Attraction vs. The Thoroughbreds and Logan Knight vs. Luther Zay Diamond, and they really seal the deal on what’s already a stacked card. It’s a rare sight to see Logan Knight competing without his longtime tag partner Stormie Renee in his corner, so this one-on-one bout feels like a real treat for fans. As for the tag match, don’t sleep on The Thoroughbreds – while they may be going up against one of FCP’s most established teams in The Main Attraction, I have a feeling they’re going to surprise a lot of people. All in all, these additions make an already must-see show feel even more unmissable.
