PREVIEW: Tri States Wrestling – Mayhem in Mooresville III – Saturday 8-24-24

This Saturday, September 4, 2024, marks a first for me as it will be my first time attending a live wrestling show held outdoors (aside from a single match I saw at the Renaissance Festival years ago). Since it’s supposed to be a little toasty that day, I’ll be bringing sunscreen, bug spray, and a hiking hat because I am very Irish and should probably be wearing a cloak at all times to avoid the perils of the sun. If anyone sees me, I’ll likely look like I’m in witness protection! Mayhem in Mooresville III celebrates the two-year anniversary of Tri States Wrestling, with their first-ever show having been held in the very same town back in 2022. As always, these shows are technically free, but donations are appreciated, with proceeds going to charity.

Amadeus and Wyatt (C) VS Langley and ???

This match was previously announced as featuring the team of Luke Langley and Jaxon King, but it appears Jaxon was found at the bottom of a staircase, badly beaten. Nobody is entirely sure what happened—not even Jaxon himself—but I suspect someone may have let some information slip in an interview I conducted earlier this week, which you can read HERE. As of now, this match might turn into a two-on-one scenario, with Langley facing two opponents alone—unless he can find a willing partner. Wyatt & Wrex have made it very clear they don’t believe Langley is on their level, but we all know that’s not the case, considering Langley is a former TSW Champion.

In a video posted to social media, Langley seems to have found the perfect partner, a so-far unnamed man that apparently kicked Langley in the face the last time they met. Speculation is running wild, and I think I may have it figured out based on little clues being dropped. I can’t wait to see if I’m right!

Gauntlet Match

One of the things I am looking the most forward to is the #1 Contendership Gauntlet. Previously announced for this show were the likes of – Atlas Armstrong, Kenny Kingston, Eric Del Castillo, Blair Dior, Trey Lind, and The Iceman who will compete in a 6 man gauntlet. The winner will face the TSW Champion in Chillicothe, MO on September 28th. Like most gauntlet matches, this will consist of a series of one-on-one matches in quick succession until one man is left standing, making the competitors placement in the match of utmost importance. If the number one draw makes it all the way through, that man will need to defeat five separate opponents – no easy feat!

The real story of this match is whether or not The Iceman can “get his groove back” and try to reclaim his rightful place at the top of Tri States Wrestling. As he explained in a recent social media post, The Iceman has been having a rough year so far. After dominating in an awesome run in 2023, his 2024 record has not been quite as good. After a big loss in St. Joseph, Missouri against Dr. Isin for the TSW Heavyweight Championship as well as getting knocked out of Trailblazer Championship Wrestling’s title contention in a tournament match against “Madman” Max Sterling, things were looking pretty dicey for a bit. He has had a few impressive wins in New Breed Wrestling lately and is starting to get back out of the red, but how great would it be to get a chance to once again fight for the championship in his hometown in front of his friends and family? I, for one, am rooting for The Iceman, and I know he’s got that dog in him.

TSW Championship: Dr Isin defends in an open challenge – Dr Isin VS “Hard Luck” Hal Rogers

For the final match preview in this article, I want to discuss the highly anticipated showdown between “The Hypothetical Specialist” Dr. Isin and “Hard Luck” Hal Rogers. This match started as an open challenge because Dr. Isin has been a true fighting champion so far this year. Answering his call is none other than the reigning KCXW Champion, Hal Rogers, who seems to be setting his sights on becoming a “Gold Collector” by targeting Isin’s championship. Both men have extensive experience in defending championships, and both have been known to “bend the rules” throughout their careers. This match promises to be intriguing, if only to see just how far each will go to claim victory.
