[UPDATE THIS SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED]

This Friday, July 12, 2024, will be my first attended show from the newest professional wrestling company in Kansas City, Fountain City Pro. I don’t normally get to have Fridays off too often, but I knew I was going to have to make it to one of these pretty soon. There’s no better time than the present, as the old saying goes, and I hope to see some of you all there. As I mentioned in a previous review, Fountain City Pro has risen from the ashes of Journey Pro Wrestling:

Fountain City Pro is ostensibly a reboot or continuation of the older, and now defunct, company Journey Pro Wrestling as it shares key members of that company’s leadership. Journey Pro Wrestling was a prominent independent wrestling promotion based in Kansas City that ran from 2019 to 2022 (although a reunion show appears to be incoming). Journey Pro gained a reputation for its vibrant shows, featuring a mix of local talent and well-known wrestlers from around the country, and the fanbase seemed very passionate about it while it lasted. That’s why many are excited for Fountain City Pro as it appears to bring that magic back.”

Currently, Fountain City Pro is running a tournament to crown their first-ever champion. And Justice for All takes the final four that were selected at Bombs over Ball and moves that much closer towards the coronation of their big winner. This show will include two semi-final matches, stacked to the brim with amazing competitors, and for that it definitely seems like I chose a wonderful time to jump in. Other highlights include the next installment of the Guys Snacks Invitational match series, and a grudge match between Gary Jay and Anakin Murphy that is sure to be wild.

The Card:

This could easily change by the time of the show, as they say, “The card is subject to change” and “The show must go on”. If for some reason more matches get added or anything changes, I will try to keep this updated.

I’m not sure the Ball Event Center is going to be big enough to contain the unbridled handsomeness of the combined powers of Wrex Amadeus and “Handsome” Scott Hansen. Wrex’s mustache alone is a veritable force of nature that fellow mustachioed guys, such as myself, sit in utter awe of, hoping one day we can hit such follicular greatness. This match comes with a bit of a backstory, as Scott Hansen has accused Wrex of some underhanded stuff as far back as Fountain City’s very first show back in March.

Allegedly, according to Hansen, tights might have been pulled in order to secure a pinfall in the big elimination match, which as we all know is not allowed. Granted, Wrex also lost that match, so it’s not like much was gained from it. Wrex and I have had run-ins in the past, but he seems pretty adamant there was no wrongdoing, so I guess we will see what happens at And Justice for All. Both of these men have been rocking the four corners of Missouri and Kansas, and I have no doubt this will be a hell of a match.

Madi Monarch VS Maggie Lee

Fountain City Pro has stood out against other Kansas City-area wrestling promotions with their absolutely stacked women’s division, and from the looks of this match between Madi Monarch and Maggie Lee, I’m sure that trend will continue at And Justice For All. Maggie Lee is no stranger to Kansas City, having wrestled in other companies such as Trailblazer Championship Wrestling and Central States Wrestling. She is one of the most athletic women on the scene right now, and has a domineering attitude that intimidates a lot of her foes, and that’s not to mention her height!

On the flip side, Madi Monarch is a definite crowd favorite, a woman who lights up the ring anytime she steps inside, and Maggie’s polar opposite in terms of stature. She’s one of those pure heroes that little kids love to cheer for, and she harnesses that positive energy to do some crazy stuff in the ring. Fans are set for a real David and Goliath battle here between these two women.

“Illustrious” Rey Leon (w/ Dick Richards) VS “The Killing Machine” Luke Langley (w/ Greg Jovi)

Our first semi-final match of the evening is going to be between “Illustrious” Rey Leon (w/ Dick Richards) and “The Killing Machine” Luke Langley (w/ Greg Jovi). Both of these men are competent, skilled fighters, and are likely fairly evenly matched, although Langley has a considerable experience edge over Leon. The true test is going to be the secondary battle between Greg Jovi and Dick Richards, two of the most cunning managers in all of wrestling today. Kansas City fans have seen what Jovi can do in his matches, as his former clients ran roughshod over CSW for well over a year in 2023.

I’m personally new to Dick Richards, but FCP fans have already seen the lengths he will go to secure a win for Rey Leon, including tampering with a car and cheating more than most men do in a full year all in one match. Rey Leon has some enemies he has recently made going into this show as well, which might further complicate things….No matter what, I’ve always been a big advocate for Mr. Langley and I know who I’ll be rooting for. Can’t believe I’ll be rooting for Greg Jovi – it just feels wrong!

Respect goes a long way in the world of professional wrestling, and when one does something to void that trust, it’s hard to get that back. In conducting all of my recent interviews, time and time again RESPECT comes up as the number one thing people either need to give more of, or a lack thereof is seen as a mistake. Shaking hands is especially important. In the main event of May’s show, a quarterfinal match between J Fowler, Gary Jay, and Anakin Murphy, Gary Jay refused to shake hands with Anakin.

Fans learned that Gary always had Anakin’s back when others told him he couldn’t wrestle, was too small, or needed to leave. Gary Jay mused, “what exactly did Gary Jay gain from helping him out?” Gary seems to think that he carried Anakin on his back and got nothing in return for his actions, and for Anakin to come at him, he is ungrateful. Anakin is angered that Gary is treating him the same way others have in the past and has something to prove to his former wingman. I have a feeling this match is going to be brutal and potentially steal the show.

When Kansas City wrestling fans last saw WARHORSE Jake Parnell, he was still donning his red and yellow gear and channeling every badass 80’s metal song one can imagine. Things have changed, and they have changed a lot! Now Parnell has embraced the philosophy of nihilism, rejected his previous attitude, and realized that life is largely meaningless. Money doesn’t matter, championship belts no longer matter, and the fans especially don’t matter – to him it’s just “whatever”.

He is going to be facing “The Spotlight” Logan Knight, making his singles debut at the show, who previously has been doing tag team bouts alongside Stormie Renee as ONLYFRIENDS. The dichotomy of the personalities of these two guys could not be more extreme, and as fans a match-up like this will be incredibly exciting. When you have a guy that cares so little about basically anything, who knows what he’s willing to do to somebody. All I’m saying is this could be a rough night for “The Spotlight” when it’s all said and done.

The second semi-final match of the evening will be between “All Steel” J Fowler and “The Grand Regent” Camaro Jackson, and I truthfully can’t imagine a situation where Camaro Jackson does not need an insurance policy for this match. Fans have all seen the nature of “Captain” Midnight Guthrie, and I’m sure he will stop at nothing to ensure the success of his client considering the stakes at hand. Granted, Midnight Guthrie spent the majority of the previous show antagonizing senior official Nick Chinn, so who knows if he’ll actually be paying attention to what’s happening this time around.

Both Camaro and Fowler are beasts of men, and I can imagine this will be an extremely hard-hitting encounter. Both excel in power moves, and both are insanely strong. If Camaro can dodge the shenanigans Guthrie will undoubtedly provide, dodge Fowler’s “Jacked Hammer”, and get the crowd behind him, he has a pretty good chance to clench that final championship spot. I guess I’m not being too secretive about who my pick is for the win, fingers crossed it happens!

Every Fountain City Pro show has a Guy’s Snacks Invitational match. The last two have been elimination inter-gender scramble matches, and this one appears to have seven challengers. There are a few names here I’m familiar with and a few that I am not, but either way this should be a blast! According to the FCP socials, this is the line-up:

  • The Foreman Red James
  • Mindy Grace
  • Tommy 2 Good
  • The Luminary
  • Zach Hendrix
  • Benjamin Trust
  • Mighty Micah

Well…well…well….it finally happened. After months of going against Fountain City Pro Management, it looks like the pairing of Tobias Storm and “The Realist” Calvin Aldridge, formerly known as “Main Attraction,” on show announcements, is officially known as “Team Double Stuffed”. The members of Team Double Stuffed are historically enemies, but seem to be setting aside differences, at least for now. They’ll definitely be on the same page, as they will be fighting none other than Campbell Meyers and SK Bishop, better known as The Premier, who are seemingly trying to make a statement against Fountain City Pro as a whole.

The Premier invaded the company at Bombs over Ball, and attacked Team Double Stuffed in particular. From their actions and words, it semes as if they were putting the entire tag division on notice. Both members of The Premier have been slagging off Fountain City Pro on social media for months now, and I’m actually surprised this match is going forward. With Storm and Aldridge bickering a bit at the end of the last show they REALLY need to get it together because the last thing The Premier needs is a win in this situation!
