An Interview with Professional Wrestler El Diablo

An Interview with Professional Wrestler El Diablo

Rarely do I see a professional wrestler who immediately catches my attention as someone to watch out for right from the start. I mean, someone you just KNOW is destined for greatness in the business with a bit more practice. Last summer, I attended a couple of shows for Tri States Wrestling during their big summer tour and witnessed a matchup between Dr. Isin and today’s featured wrestler, El Diablo. From the moment his pulse-pounding industrial walk-out song hit, I knew I was in for something special. I was immediately a fan of El Diablo and knew I had to try to talk to him at some point.

El Diablo is a high-flying force of nature, a wrestler who uses his own body as a weapon and performs wild acrobatic moves that can steal any show he’s on. There’s a reason he’s a fan favorite around here, and the kids absolutely love the Aztec Warrior from the year 3000. Good news folks! I had the rare opportunity to interview the man who claims to be a time traveler from the distant future, choosing professional wrestling as his battlefield to honor his warrior gods. In this interview, we’ll delve into what the future holds, the origin story of El Diablo, his biggest influences, and his fiercest enemies. Buckle-up folks, this one is going to be crazy.

And remember – UP! UP! UP! UP!!!!

I generally ask a few of the same questions in these sorts of interviews, so don’t be surprised if you’ve seen me repeat a few before. As I build up a format that I like, I figure this makes it fun to compare how different people answer on a few of these.

My readers have definitely never heard your native language from the future, is it okay if we do this interview in 2020’s English by any chance?

“Across the oceans of time, I am delivered my friend. The gods have gifted me with the English language this year, after creating such a memorable path amongst the wrestling realm within just my 4 years of pro wrestling journey.”

Thank you for agreeing to this today, can you tell everyone a little bit about yourself?

“Hmmm, where or when to start!? 🧐

Delivered from the gods of Year 3099 A.U. Sector 21 Heavens Superior Aztec Demon Warrior. I come from a place so far in the future, that it has merged with the past and the present of all times, dimensions and realms. Sounds messy, it is messy. But do not worry my friend, thus is why El Diablo has been delivered. To right the wrongs of those and the things that caused such a mess in the deep future. Righting the wrongs if you will.

Now to clear up some confusion, El Diablo is not “the devil”, which is what earth realmers seem to think at first glance or word of my name. That is not the case, El Diablo is the name given to me by my gods for it represents the fire inside of me, it represents the heart that beats hard in my chest to fight for my gods, and it’s a name fit, for a beast, such as the Aztec demon warrior. Let me try this in proper English…. Hello, My Name… is El Diablo…”

What exactly is it about the 2020’s in this area that brings you back time and time again to wage battle?

“Very good hmmm question, is it? Yes yes. Well in the beginning of every demon warriors time, we are all given a mission of such. For our gods lay out the message, and we make sure that message is received by all those of which realm we are delivered. Now for me, 2020s was my time of deliverance. Why? Well let’s just say El Diablo wasn’t the best little demon traveling up. It took me a long time to earn respect from my gods and to make up for MY wrongs.

Now that I’m here, I must keep my gods satisfied so I can earn my rightful place amongst them, once it’s time for El Diablo to return. Some of the warriors I’ve defeated would have caused much damage to earth realm if I wasn’t there to stop them. The fight has yet to end, but El Diablo will ALWAYS be there for it.”

You are definitely an accomplished wrestler, did you receive training in this time period by anyone around here?

When I was delivered to earth realm, I was dropped in the middle of a XWC practice… I didn’t know what that was at first, so I attacked everyone around me until they all pinned me down and fed me what they call “candy” until they could get me to calm down. Then they showed me by hand movements and body language that they were not there to harm me. They then showed me the ways of professional wrestling.

One night when I returned to the gods, they assured me that this would help repay my last bit of debt towards them. By being trained under the warriors known as David Cattin and Jude Vice. Both very knowledgeable and men of Earth Realm I respect. Now along my travels in earth realm, I’ve been very blessed to battle some of the best names around this area. In which later they would let me know I could learn from them or reach out for advice at anytime. Some of those names include Hollis Giroux, Brandon Barbwire, Superstar Steve, Sean Vincent, and even some of my worst foes have taught me great lessons inside the ring. Those names include Hardluck Hal, The Realist and Dr. Isin.

Whether they told me face to face or I learned from battling them. These are all my go to earth realmers 👌🏽

Your travels often bring you to KCXW and Tri States Wrestling, what other arenas can you be found at?

As of late you can see El Diablo battle at the likes of Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling, Show Me State Wrestling, Southwest Kansas Independent Lucha Libre, New Breed Wrestling, No Fold Pro Wrestling, and maybe even a few other places but you’ll have to watch for those my friends 😉 and with those realms, remember El Diablo will appear at them for years to come 👌🏽

What is your biggest tip for anyone trying to break into professional wrestling?

“Hmmmm, Hands are for handshake or chops to the chest, not for food!

Haha! How about for battle?!

“Ahhhh yes!! Warriors going into battle 😈 WARRIORS, as one of your great earth realmers once said, Move Like Water. Or at least try your best.”

El Diablo’s nutrition tip – Hands are not for food!

What is the biggest mistake you see others make when starting out?

“I think the biggest mistake I see a lot of warriors make, is not asking enough questions. If you’re scared to ask a question, if you think your question is dumb, you’ll never find the answers you seek. SO ASK AWAY.”

You defeated Hal Rogers for the Metro Championship back at Excellence 2023, who has been your toughest opponent so far defending your championship?

“Hardluck Hal Rogers is definitely one of the top tier opponents I’ve had for the title itself. Furious, Powerful and mean he is. But as for others 🧐 El Diablo has had 3 title reigns amongst earth realm. I’ll give you an answer for each. Metro title, one of my toughest battles was against The Realist Calvin Aldridge. Not only is he a great competitor in the ring, but his words will bring a great fire within you for a fight 👊🏽

For the NBW Pop Con Championship, my toughest battle was against the young up and comer Blaire Dior. I’ve seen him grow in this business just a few years and I must say, this is a warrior to look out for. And as for the NBW Television Championship, my toughest battle was against the person I won it from. Superstar Steve. A veteran, one of the best in this region and tougher than an ox. This battle was hard fought and definitely not easy.”

An Interview with Professional Wrestler El Diablo
El Diablo defeated “Hard Luck” Hal Rogers for his Metro Championship, but with Rogers holding the KC Championship – will they meet again?

With Rogers now holding the KC Championship, is that something you are gunning for in the future?

“Ahhhhh yes, the warrior championship gold of Kansas City, the Kansas City Championship! The grandest relic of all earth realm! El Diablo has once been summoned for battle for this title before. If I have never set my eyes on the prize of Kansas City, well then I just wouldn’t be proving myself worthy of superior Aztec demon warrior, now would I friend. El Diablo may be from the futures past, but when you come back in time to do what’s right, you can’t corrupt the system whatsoever. My sights are set for the gold my friend, but as for when I will have my hands on the gold???

🧐 only our gods know”

You suffered a brutal attack after your match with Calvin Aldridge at the hands of the Main Attractions, is that in the past or are you seeking retribution for that act?

“When it comes to Clavin Aldridge and his goons known as the Main Attractions, El Diablo seeks no revenge. For the gods see all, and when fate comes knocking at their door. It will be El Diablo instead 😈 The battle may have ended but the war has just begun, and come July earth realm 2024, James Moore will get a taste of his own aerial medicine my friend. FOR EL DIABLO LIVES AGAIN!”

An Interview with Professional Wrestler El Diablo

Ah, so you’ll be facing James Moore at Xtreme Liberty! How are you currently training?

“Xtreme Liberty, El Diablo VS James Moore, 2 out of 3 falls, falls count anywhere. Never has El Diablo been apart of such a battle, but to train for this one I’ve traveled far and wide mastering the ways of this planet. Although I’ve continued to train hard for every battle as they come, this will be a new challenge for me. I feel if I continue to train and protect earth realm. There should be no worry, come July.”

Can you speak about your relationship with Merci? I can’t help but notice you two have become somewhat inseparable as of late.

“Me and Merci are great friends from outer dimensions. We’ve crossed paths in past lives, and within this one we’ve come to help each other. She has shown me the ways of English in return of showing her some of the ways of professional wrestling. She is a great help, but soon, to be a great wrestler.”

KCXW just ran a co-branded show with Martinez Entertainment Lucha Libre in May that saw some big Lucha libre stars travel to Kansas City, How did you link up with that?

“El Diablo was lucky enough to be summoned by the gods of Martinez Entertainment. KCXW and Martinez Entertainment have been moving mountains together for quite a time now. I do know these people are great, they treat us greater and the fans they bring are glorious. I’m very blessed to be continuously invited back to battle for them, and wish they continue to invite El Diablo and friends back.”

Who were you most excited about working with at that show?

“I was blessed with being able to tag team with Payasito Tilin ! El Diablo has never crossed paths with the ones they call Chancla Violence! Angel De Paz a masked man of many wonders and evil! And his monster of a partner know as the big bad Bruiserdor Violencia! Working with these luchadors was new to El Diablo, but the lessons learned and the moments created, will forever last a lifetime in El Diablos mind. And hopefully the rest of whom was in attendance my friend.”

Do you have a dream opponent?

“WOW. Soooo many. I don’t think I can name any in particular 🤔 hmmmm. Let me think of some people I’ve never wrestled, and even people El Diablo have studied before or just crazy random dream match 🧐 these will be one on one situations. Arez from AAA, MDogg Matt Cross, Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan, Brody Lee, Andrade, The Bastard PAC, Cheeseburger, hmmm onto people I’ve seen across earth realm 2024 hmmm 🧐 The Marksman, Angel De Paz, Chance Carrigan, Brandon Beretta, Brandon Barbwire, Niles Plonk, Joey O’Reilly, The Fajitataker, Jacksyn Crowley, Marko Stunt, EagleEye, Dalton Anthony, Jabari King, Artemis V Watley, Ryxyr Wölfsbane, Leo D, Bert Candy, Psyman Balisong, Jacoby Watts, Chris Hendrix, Big Nasty Glenn Williams, Sean Vincent, Billy McNeil (again), Superstar Steve (again), Hollis Giroux (again), Osby Tomlin, Attila Khan (again), Rey Leon, Remington Rhor, ATM (again), Donavan Era, Gary Gram, there is literally a ton I’m missing but ultimately, El Diablo is open to all challenges!”

With Indy Wrestling somewhat exploding around here, is there an untapped Lucha Libre market as well?

“Yes! Although I have newly been welcomed over the past couple of years, a Kansas City Lucha Libre scene is amongst us. I’m sure over time things will grow even bigger and better than last. So just keep your eyes and ears open for more local Lucha action! 😉 you might even get to meet El Diablo!”

Lucha Libre can draw big numbers in KC

What is your favorite wrestling match of all time?

“Hmmmm this is a very tough question my friend. From Bret hart vs Owen hart, the rock and stone cold 🧐🤔 Trust me there’s soooooo much wrestling in earth realm. let me dig deep into my memory friend. Now this might not have been the prettiest, flashiest or well built monstrosity !! But I would have to say Undertaker VS Kane in the inferno match. Now most would be intrigued by the flames, fire and monsters of men, but El Diablos attention was grabbed by something else. Growing up a young demon warrior, I had a big brother by the name of Hades. We would wage war amongst the gods to define who was the superior warrior. These battles of undertaker and Kane would remind me of these great times.”

How about your favorite match you, personally, were involved with?

“Hmmmmm that is an almighty decision. Hmmmmm. ::scratches head:: I do not think I can decide that one just yet my friend.. for in my time in the pro wrestling I have wrestled some of this areas greatest in my opinion. Quite honestly I would have to say besides about 3 matches in the entirety of my battles, I would say they are all my favorite. As I travel and battle through the oceans of time I gain knowledge, stripes, mentors, brothers, etc from each and every time I step into the squared circle realm. I take much pride in and am very grateful to have had every opportunity I have been given from the gods amongst your realm. Each battle is not easy by any means, and to continue to live again amongst some of the greatest will forever be my favorite.”

What are some of your goals for the second half of 2024?

“Everyone knows the answer to this one on earth realm my friend. El Diablo has goals that will make him go….. Up…. Up… Uppppppppp……”

I know you likely aren’t allowed to talk about future events, but is there something I should start buying in bulk right now? I don’t want to be caught up in another toilet paper shortage!

“Oooooouuuuuu telling those the future who have not seen the future nor the past is like playing with a bomb my friend. Hmmmm as for my time on earth realm and the future I shall create 🧐🤔 stock up on popcorn.”

An Interview with Professional Wrestler El Diablo
El Diablo is a big Slipknot fan

Are you a fan of any entertainment from this time period? Music, Movies, etc.?

“Ahhhh yes. I have been grateful to have received some devices that will let me tell you such. Music- Slipknot, Roger & Zapp, Tupac, ABN & much more Movies- Warriors, Bio Dome, Bill & Ted, Ace Ventura, Casino, Goodfellas, Tombstone, The Regulators, Holes, Pulp Fiction, and much more yesss”

Last question – I almost always ask what time period you would time travel to if you could, but with you being an actual time traveler from the future, what is the coolest thing you’ve seen?

“Hmmm 🧐 coolest thing I’ve seen.. Well I’m going to have to say it was the time I surf traveled to the year 5839 in the Hydromegaultra Gorgionzas Realm and I was headed into battle for the ten championships of the…..::

A RED PORTAL OPENS UP::

Oh no my friend it looks like it’s my time to go. UNTIL NEXT TIME WARRIORS!!!! WWWWWOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSHHHHHAAAAAAAAA!!!!
