An upcoming Live professional Wrestling show from TSW

PREVIEW: Tri States Wrestling – Jameson, MO – April 19, 2024

Tri States Wrestling in Jameson, MO is one of two back-to-back events I will be attending in April 2024 (The other being KCXW Unleashed), and what a show it promises to be! Not only will there be two big title matches, but it’s all for a great cause. This show will be a fundraiser for the North Daviess R-III 2025 Class, with proceeds going directly to them. The last show like this that I attended was TSW Bulldog Brawl, which turned out to be pretty awesome, and solidified my fandom of this company. I’ve never been to Jameson, MO, and I have no idea what the gymnasium is like there, but there’s a certain charm to these sorts of charity events that make them really fun. Here’s hoping it’s not a randomly hot day, as I’ve had that experience in the past with other companies, sitting in a sweltering hot-box is never fun!

So far, there are five announced matches, but there could end up being more. These sorts of shows usually end up with anywhere from five to seven matches on average and run for just over two hours.

Wyatt seems very thrilled

“The Monarch” Jeremy Wyatt and Wrex Amadeus VS Storm Dior (Tobias Storm and Blaire Dior) – for the TSW Tag Team Championships

During his match against “The Realist” Calvin Aldridge, “The Monarch” Jeremy Wyatt was able to secure a “call your shot” title match contract for any championship he wanted to make a run for. In a surprising move, that was almost entirely drowned out by a chorus of boos throughout the arena, The Monarch announced he would be challenging for — not the TSW Heavyweight Championship, but instead the TSW Tag Team Titles with a mystery partner! In a social media video released to the TSW Facebook page, Wyatt revealed that he had not figured out who he would be working with and literally ended up drawing a name from a hat — the name drawn was none other than former TSW Tag Team Champion – Wrex Amadeus!

Despite Wyatt’s obvious reservations, keep in mind that Wrex took Wyatt 30 minutes in August at Bulldog Brawl, nearly ending up with the now defunct US Highway Championship on a few occasions. He also had a solid match with Franco Varga in Gladstone, Missouri, in a losing effort for the older TSW Championship. I’d imagine Wyatt likely sees a ton of potential in Wrex, and honestly taking him under his wing would do him more good than allowing him to run with guys like Warren Adams. We haven’t really seen Wyatt do the tag team thing in a long while, so this will be a refreshing change of pace.

“International Superstar” Franco Varga VS Bert Candy

Hot off a huge win over Fuego Del Sol, “International Superstar” Franco Varga will be turning his sights against none other than Bert Candy, the lovable behemoth of a man with the power of a pack of grizzly bears. Franco has a definite edge against Candy with his explosive agility, but few make it through Bert’s bone-crunching “Steamroller” without taking the “L.” This match contains over 600 pounds of fighting fury between both men, which is absolutely crazy.

The real question will be whether Varga can get Candy up in some of his moves or not (The deadlift Falcon Arrow especially); otherwise, a lot of his arsenal may have to be re-thought. With Varga being the longest-reigning TSW champion ever, and with hundreds of matches under his belt, it will be interesting to see where this goes. I can say one thing for sure, if you have never been to a TSW show and have likewise never seen a Franco Varga match – you are in for a treat!

The Iceman vs “The Iron Pitbull” Kenny Kingston

While The Iceman had an awesome run in 2023 (including a pretty solid title run during the Spring and Summer), his 2024 record has not been quite as good. With a big loss in St. Joseph, Missouri against Dr. Isin for the TSW Heavyweight Championship as well as getting knocked out of Trailblazer Championship Wrestling’s title contention in a tournament match against “Madman” Max Sterling, I’m sure The Iceman will be looking to right the proverbial ship before it sinks for the year. We could be ready to see the same sort of edge we saw from him in matches like Last year’s Christmas Street Fight, a side of The Iceman that can definitely get things done.

His opponent for this match is the young upstart “The Iron Pitbull” Kenny Kingston, a man that has really impressed me in both KCXW and TSW so far. Kingston is a big man that can move, and absolutely dominated The Rumble for the Rescue Dogs last year, chucking bodies from the ring like discarded lumber. The biggest problem I see is that The Iceman has a lot of experience in the ring, won numerous championships, and has taken on many wrestlers even bigger than Kingston. If Kingston can pull this off, this match could be the upset of the year!

“The Hypothetical Specialist” Dr. Isin vs “The Realist” Calvin Aldridge for the TSW Heavyweight Championship

The reigning and defending TSW Heavyweight Champion, “The Hypothetical Specialist” Dr. Isin, was able to successfully defend against The Iceman in St. Joseph, MO, but there’s no rest for the wicked and it’s time for yet another defense! In Jameson, Isin will be taking on “The Realist” Calvin Aldridge, a former champion himself, to see how he stacks up against the record Franco Varga set last year. As the TSW Facebook page points out: “If Dr. Isin can defeat Alridge, he will surpass the 112 days that both Franco Varga and The Iceman accumulated as TSW Champions“.

There’s a catch though, TSW management have pointed out that Calvin Alridge was granted this opportunity due to an overall near immaculate record in Kansas City Wrestling, but he has not fared as well in TSW. This very well could be his last chance at TSW gold before he gets knocked back down the ladder. These are some very big stakes for both men, and I can’t wait to see who comes out on top.

Warren Adams Issues an Open Challenge

My first experience seeing Warren Adams was in Chillicothe, MO and involved him throwing what I would characterize as a “baby tantrum” and shaking a bottle of water all over the place. My snap judgment of him has not really changed much since that day, to be honest. He did have a short run with Wrex Amadeus as the TSW Tag Team Champions last year, but let’s face it, that match was not exactly won in a way that you can be proud of. At TSW in Jameson, MO, Adams appears to be doing an open challenge – I’m not sure if this is one of his numerous scams, or if he’s serious, but either way it should be entertaining.
